AQUATOPIA——Dameisha Renewal Plan
AQUATOPIA is a scenario of the future beach in today’s world, an imaginary and existing utopia against cities. The project interprets the essence of Fun City as a process of rediscovery the world around us, and intends to solve existing urban problems using spaces as tools. Taking Dameisha as case study, the project tries to respond to the challenges raised by environmental crisis, inflexibility of service and the lacking of collective spaces through small scale interventions and affordable budget. The series of strategies work as public space acupunctures, which incorporate the roles both as urban infrastructure and art works.
To figure out authenticity of a fun beach in the process of rapid urbanization, we have to answer to three questions:
With the speed of rapid urbanization process, how can we balance the environment challenges and desires for recreation?
With the public spaces be customized in today’s society, how can we trace back to the joys we once had in our childhood?
With the disappearance of public awareness, how can we create new social values and publicity through affordable price?
